How CyberHERo Began
FOUNDED IN 2024
Centering Talent and Experience
CyberHERo was created in 2024 by Von Terra Project Vice President Elisha Angeles to build a stronger professional community around women in cybersecurity and create more opportunities for their expertise, leadership, and contributions to be recognized.
From the beginning, CyberHERo has centered the talent and experience women already bring to the field. Its purpose is to strengthen professional connections, create meaningful learning opportunities, increase visibility, and encourage individuals and organizations to serve as champions who advocate for talented professionals and help open doors.
FROM SUMMIT TO COMMUNITY
Creating Space to Come Together
The first CyberHERo Summit brought the community together in 2024 for technical learning, honest career conversations, professional development, and connection. The Summit returned in 2025 with a broader program and a growing network of practitioners, executives, students, champions, and community partners.
Those events helped establish the foundation for something larger: an ongoing community where expertise is shared, accomplishments are visible, and people actively contribute to the success of others.
GROWING BEYOND AN ANNUAL EVENT
Building the Broader Community
Today, CyberHERo is growing beyond a single annual event. The broader community is focused on continued opportunities for learning, collaboration, professional connection, and recognition. CyberHERo welcomes women, allies, supporters, champions, and community partners who believe a stronger cybersecurity field is built by recognizing talent, sharing knowledge, and actively contributing to the success of others.
CyberHERo is a program of the Von Terra Project Inc., a Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

2024
CyberHERo Is Founded
CyberHERo begins as a community focused on recognizing the contributions of women in cybersecurity, strengthening professional connections, and bringing together people committed to championing talent. The first CyberHERo Summit is held in December at Microsoft Reston.
2025
The Community Grows
The second annual Summit expands the program and welcomes participants from across career stages and sectors. The growing community continues to shape opportunities for technical learning, professional development, connection, and recognition.
2026 AND BEYOND
Building a Lasting Community
CyberHERo continues growing into a lasting community where people learn from one another, form meaningful professional relationships, share expertise, and champion talented cybersecurity professionals.
